With Joubert out, do the Wolves look any better?

Jazz meets Wolves less than Joubert in Minnesota. When the  Utah Jazz take on the Minnesota Timberwolves  today, it could be a battle of attrition. Rudy Gobert left his last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a groin strain and day in and day out. For Jazz, they’d probably be without Lauri Markkanen for this one, too.

Markkanen wasn’t listed as “out” by Jazz, so he could still be playing, but it seems likely that they’ll play this game with caution.

The story of this match will continue for a decade. The trade to Rudy Gobert didn’t work out as well as Minnesota had hoped, and Utah got more than they might have realized at the time of the trade. Walker Kessler looks like the heir apparent at the center. And all of this happened before Utah’s selections began to emerge.

The other interesting thing about this match is how well Wolves played with the exception of Joubert. Anthony Edwards is putting up big numbers in the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Goubert. With a weak Jazz defense this season, we might see him put up big numbers tonight as well.
