British Interior Design Association – the professional organization for interior design in the UK

Founded in 2002 in Chelsea, London, the British Interior Design Association (BIDA) is a highly recognized association with members who are designers, firms, affiliates and students. Its sole objective is to promote, improve and support the professional role of individuals in the design and decoration industry. Formed through the merger of the Interior Designers Association (IDDA) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the Association strives to increase public awareness and understanding of the unique essence of good decorative design in all aspects of everyday life.

BIDA is a member of the International Federation of Interior Architects and Designers (IFI). This association is associated with other international design associations and is consulted by well-known institutions, government departments, private residences and media professionals. It also publishes a review magazine on a quarterly basis – this magazine contains the latest news, updates, activities, products and services.

The main objectives of the British Interior Design Association are:

  • Upgrading high standards in the profession of decoration and interior design.
  • Facilitate the education, training and professional development of designers, thus promoting excellence in the industry.
  • Encouraging open discussion with other nationally and internationally recognized institutions and professional bodies concerned with this industry.
  • Guide students and new designers to build a solid foundation for the future of the profession.
  • Make the profession available to the public by participating in voluntary community programs and encouraging the commitment of members in this regard.
  • Focus on the aesthetic, functional and environmental implications of design.

Enrollment in BIDA is open to all practicing designers who wish to keep abreast of new developments in the field.
